In this commercial project, we saw about 60 linear feet x 4 feet wide front stoops/concrete slabs that also settled approximately 3/4″ – 1″. Tar Heel Foundation Solutions drilled 2″ holes to do the pressure grouting to raise the slabs back to the original elevation. We drilled 3″ holes. Over the 2″ holes and grouted soil nails were also installed with #5 rebar. The grouted soil nails/pin piles were installed at 10′ depth. These ensure the slab is protected against any future movement. We applied pressure grout to raise elevation and pin piles to give support.
Soil nails are also installed into predrilled holes that go through the loose soil into the stable ground. Bolts are secured beneath the soil using cement grout.
